More changes have
been made to my magazine as I am currently on drafting number 4, now I have
made the decision of changing the last page around - in doing this I have
removed the image on the right and added a close up and rather than fitting it
in a certain place I have enlarged it putting it in the right corner - putting
'the verdict' over the side of the image, I feel this is a more professional
approach on the last page and stands out more as the main image tells more of a
story in comparison to the other image.

Drafting #3
Today we got our feedback on the changes we need to make for our magazine to be of a better standard, I decided to change the pages by putting the double page image as the 4th page rather than the 3rd this meant that the page before I have now turned into an introduction rather than just an essay I feel this is a more professional approach. I have also changed the writing and layout of the double page by using a shorter quote and enlarging, in my opinion this suits the layout of my magazine much more.

Survey results
It is important to
understand your target audience and their wants and needs from a magazine,
creating a survey and asking people to answer was a good method of gaining that
information. It was evident for answer one the majority of my audience use
twitter as a preferred type of social media minus a few who choose instagram.
Question 2, how often do you listen to music? Understandably nearly everyone
answered always. Question 3 based about if you keep up to date with your favourite
artists showed more people choosing always however some saying sometimes. How
often do you want your magazine to be distributed was my next question and this
was going to help me decide when it should be distributed - conclusion is
monthly from the feedback? Question 5 about how you get your music showed all
people get their music online normally by downloading it off the computer. Do
you go to festivals answer was evident my audience enjoy going to concerts and
festivals giving me heads up to including free tickets on my magazine. Question
7 about print and online showed people like them both the same amount and if
not print more than online which was shocking for me. Question 8 about pricing
demonstrated I had made the right decision when choosing to price my magazine
from £2.00-2.99 as that was the most chosen answer. Everyone answered yes to
the magazine being interactive as they want a relationship with the magazine,
similar to question 10 about articles where answers where varied to answers
about gossip, backstage stuff, new music and personal lives of artists.

Audience feedback
https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/52RR53Q
Here is my survey in which I have asked people to fill out giving me audience feedback, I hope that this gives me effective feedback as the people answering will be anonymous and therefore wont feel bias to answering in a certain way which will ensure correct results, from the results I will gain I will be able to understand different peoples opinions on the music magazine industry helping to suggest how well my magazine would of been in comparison to other magazines.

Drafting #2
Here is my next process to my final piece of work being
completed, I have changed the front cover by adding more writing on such as '16
page gig blow out' I felt as if the left side didn’t have enough writing on and
looked boring so adding this has also helped to engage readers to my magazine
as my target audience are involved in gigs and it’s a good way of promoting the
magazine. I also made some changes too the artists names on the right
underlining the main stars as I felt it would draw more attention to them
making them show more importance. Following on to the contents page I added a subscribe
and twitter box - feeling like this would show my connection to my audience as
I have established their wants from a magazine. My double page spread I have
highlighted important bits of text which I feel which catch the eye of my
reader whilst adding the date of my magazine release and page number at the
bottom helping the reader get through the magazine easier.

Double page spread 2 Image
Here I have shown the transformation in which I have created from the start of my photo to the photo I am now using on my double page spread image collage, along with the other range of photos I used I wanted to ensure my collage wouldn’t just be all the same photos mixed together but a variety of images in different styles - here my image is in black and white however I wanted to show of the skills of Photoshop and that you can do more than just transform the image to black and white - enhancing Ella's lip to me a bright red colour has signified more detail to the image making it stand out more to the image.

Double page spread image
Here is an image of before and after editing my image - I
felt this use of image would be extremely effective for my double page spread
as I wanted to use a photo which stood out but also would fill the whole page
for my double page spread. The sophisticated dark lipstick on my model stands
out and catches the eye of my viewer, as my model looks away from the camera it
creates more effect and creates an overall more effective interesting photo.
The clothing worn helps create the image of my music magazine - indie pop,
whilst the classy eye shadow and dark hair blend together nicely. I used Adobe
Photoshop to edit the photo in order to make it look more professional and
better on the eye. I wanted to get rid of the dull/grey effect that the
original photo had. In order to do this I played with the saturation and the
brightness until I was satisfied with the appearance. I also wanted to get rid
of the shadows and dark marks on her face, therefore I used the patch tool to
lighten these parts. I also used Surface Blur in order to smooth out the image
and improve how professional it looked. Overall I believe the outcome of the
editing has helped make the photo brighter and clearer for my readers.

Equipment
InDesign
I am using InDesign to make my magazine, it is a quick and efficient
way of making my magazine and much more professional in comparison to Photoshop
- it enables you to use quick shortcuts while making my magazine. You are able
to text wrap text quick and easy where as in Photoshop you had to draw it to go
around the images. You’re able to create more effective shapes and text on this
software, you can copy anything and place it in the exact same place without
having to re-make the shape - InDesign. When importing photos all you have to
do is drag the photo over into the place you want it to hold and it will go
there, very simple and easy.
Cameras/Photoshoot
In order to create professional looking photos I’ve done a photo
shoot of my model Ella, using the white backdrop and lighting on her face I am
able to create unique professional photos. Using the cannon 550D - having an
extra zoom lenses you are able to take close ups, mid shots and full length
photos of my model creating a wide variety of photos ensuring the quality of
photos is high. If the camera quality was poor on my magazine it would give a
cheap and tacky feel to my magazine and wouldn’t appeal to my target audience
of teenagers.
Photoshop
Once taking my photos
I want the photos to stand out and be more effective than before, this is where
Photoshop comes in to it. Photoshop allows you to edit photos enhancing them
and air brush their face to give a glow and bring light to the face. You are
able to do some great things on Photoshop transforming a face which may have
damaged skin to looking like they have had a professional make over. I want my
images to stand out on my magazine by being able to air brush my models face
means i can make her stand out even more than before creating an effective
front cover for my magazine.

Sketches
Here is my sketches in which I hope my magazine looks something similar of in the final thing, it is a rough design of the layout of where I will want images and text too go - to get a rough idea of how I wanted my layout to go I refered back to magazines such as Q magazine as they are a professional well respected magazine company and I felt following a similar layout to them would be benefital.
